14 Days Trip in Uganda

Day 1: Arrival

Welcome to Uganda, “Tusanyuse okukulaba” meaning we are happy to see you. Depending on your arrival time, our company representative will meet and pick you up. Transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay, if you need to check out the city in the late evening, you can let your driver know about your plan for the night.

Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo National Park (Fly to)

Today start your adventure to Uganda’s wild places, have your breakfast at leisure and join your guide/driver for a transfer to the Airport where you will pick a flight to Kidepo National Park.

Flying to kidepo is much advised compared to driving there since it is quite a long distance for many to sit.

Day 3: Game viewing drive & hot Springs

Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated park, far in the Northern region. The park is a home to a number of wildlife including of the big five, and it won the award of best wildlife destination in east Africa. A game viewing drive is one of the most important activities in the park, offering opportunities to view the lions resting on rock out crops, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hyenas, cheetah, lesser Kudu, African wild dogs, the beautiful ostrich and many more interesting birds.

Return to your lodge for lunch, if you had packed lunch, your guide knows where best to have a warm meal in the park. After lunch take a simple drive to the beautiful Kanangarok hot springs.  After the adventurous activities, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 4: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

The drive from Kidepo to Murchison Falls National park is approximately 7-8hrs, this means you need to have an early breakfast and have enough time on the road. Your drive will take you through part of the Karamoja region and Gulu town as well. Be sure of some stops to take photos, pees, stretch your legs along the way.

Day 5: Morning boat cruise& Evening game drive

This morning in Murchison Falls National parks starts different compared to Kidepo days. This time, you are having a morning boat cruise along the Nile. The boat cruise is approximately 2hrs, just floating on the waters, watching various animals on the water banks including the elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, hippos, crocodiles, birds such as the sun birds, African fish eagle and most interesting the water falls. If you are fit enough, you can opt for a hike to the top of the falls and if not, sail back to the river shores.

Proceed for lunch, if it’s a hot day, take a deep in the pool and wait on your guide for an evening game drive. Many of the animals are winding their day and some on the night hunters are getting ready  run out of their dens, catch a glimpse of the giraffes, elephants, kobs, bushbucks, warthogs, buffaloes, lions, waterbucks and so many more. This is enough for the day, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Today is yet another day for a longer drive also. Driving from Murchison falls to kibale National park is approximately 9-10hrs on road. Most important of all, you guide will help you enjoy the trip, make stops to take photos, have some fresh fruits and snacks as well; it is such an interesting drive. Take a moment to see the mahoma falls, the crater lakes and a lot more.

Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking

Kibale forest is termed as the primate capital of the world with over 13 species of primates living in this forest. Today’s best highlight is the chimpanzee tracking; tracking takes approximately 3-4hrs with the help of the guide. Make sure you carry some drinking water and get your camera ready to capture these apes. Close to the chimps, you can view the colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, forest hogs and thousands of birds.

Return to the lodge for lunch or have a packed meal in the forest. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at either leisure or visiting the Bigodi wetland to capture a moment with the birds of kibale forest and mostly the elusive shoebill.

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

This is Uganda’s most famous park second to Murchison Falls. The drive from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National parks is approximately 5 -6 hours. Drive through the beautiful scenery of Uganda’s rain forests, swamps, homesteads, grazing farms and a lot more.

Day 9: Morning Game drive& Boat cruise

Queen Elizabeth national park features a number of tracks to view animals. Be sure to  finds elephants almost in every part of the park and be careful not to get into  their way, buffaloes also linger around as well as the kobs, antelopes, hyenas, lions, the leopard which proves to  be elusive, waterbucks, bushbucks, Jackson’s heart beasts , mangeese and so many more.  Afternoon boat cruise adds color to the fun of the day.

The cruise offers rides to the extreme ends of the Kazinga channel where there is much concentration of hippos and beautiful water birds

Day 10: Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park

Bwindi forest is one of East Africa’s biggest forests and labeled as impenetrable with thick undergrowth vegetation that supports life for various wildlife. The forest is also a home to various tree species which are not found elsewhere in the country.  The drive o Bwindi is approximately 5 hours; through the Ishasha sector well known for its tree climbing lions. Do not miss out this spot for anything.

Day 11: Gorilla Tracking

Gorilla trekking in Uganda is the best highlight for a Uganda safari. Bwindi is a home to over half of the world’s mountain gorillas with 12 gorilla families spread in different parts of the forest. After breakfast, follow your guide to the briefing center and get basic highlights of what you are going to do. The rangers will lead you on the trails in search for the gorillas.

You have an hour with the gorillas, watch them feed, associate and play. Each group takes only 8 people. Return to the lodge for refreshments, you can have a community visit for the rest of the evening. Have a luxurious dinner treat and overnight stay.

Day 12: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Today depart Bwindi for Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district. You do need to wake up so early after all the drive is just 4-5 hours. If you are an early raiser, wakeup, take a morning walk around your lodge community, have breakfast and head off to Kabale. If you are spending your night at the islands, the island hotels boats will be waiting on you to cross over from the main shores to the island camps.

Day 13: Canoe rides & birds watching

Lake Bunyonyi is favorable spot to stop and relax after so many muscle straining activities in the previous days. Just wake up at leisure with a hearty breakfast ready for you. Join your guide for an interesting canoe ride, on Lake Bunyonyi passing via various islands that are dotted on this lake. This is the best chance to view the sunbirds, beautiful cranes, and the shoebill as well, blue turacco, handsome francolins and a lot more.

Day 14: Reserved for Departure

This day marks the end of the trip. After an early breakfast, get ready to drive back to Kampala. Have lunch stop in Mbarara town at Igongo cultural center. Another interesting stop is at Kayabwe the equator monument. Proceed to Kampala for the night with dinner or transfer to the airport for your flight to the next destination.
