Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1 - Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Afternoon Boat Cruise
our safari begins with an early morning pickup from Kampala or Entebbe for a scenic drive westward through the Ugandan countryside, featuring a brief stop at the Equator crossing for photos and coffee. You will arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park in time to check into your lodge and enjoy a fresh lunch before heading out for a 2-hour afternoon launch cruise along the famous Kazinga Channel. This boat safari offers incredible, close-up views of wallowing hippos, massive Nile crocodiles, bathing elephants, and hundreds of colorful waterbirds along the riverbanks, after which you will return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 2 - Morning Game Drive & Transfer Northward
Set out at the break of dawn for an exhilarating game drive across the Kasenyi Plains, a prime hunting ground for predators when the morning air is still cool. With the help of an experienced guide, you will search for lions, leopards, large herds of cape buffaloes, and elegant Uganda kobs grazing in the savannah. After the drive, you will head back to the lodge for an early lunch and check out, then begin a scenic journey northward through rural villages and crater lake landscapes toward the massive Budongo Forest Reserve, arriving at your eco-lodge by evening to the tranquil sounds of the rainforest.
Day 3 - Chimpanzee Tracking in Kaniyo-Pabidi & Nature Walk
After an early breakfast, you will report to the Kaniyo-Pabidi Eco-Tourism Site for a safety briefing before trekking into the towering, old-growth mahogany canopy with an expert ranger guide. Once you locate the resident troop of habituated chimpanzees, you will spend a thrilling hour watching them swing through the branches, groom each other, and communicate in the wild. In the afternoon, after lunch and a short rest at the lodge, you will embark on a guided forest nature walk to look for rare forest birds and other resident primates, including Black-and-White Colobus and Blue Monkeys, before enjoying dinner.
Day 4 - Morning Forest Birding & Return to Kampala/Entebbe
Wake up to the gentle bird calls of the rainforest and enjoy a relaxed breakfast on your final morning, with an optional short walk along the forest edges for early morning bird watching. Afterward, you will pack your bags, check out of the lodge, and begin your return drive toward central Uganda. You will stop for a hot lunch in Masindi town along the way, continuing your journey to arrive back in Kampala or Entebbe by late afternoon or early evening, marking the end of your wildlife adventure.

Frequently Asked Questions
A: Chimpanzee tracking here is generally considered an easy-to-moderate hike. Unlike mountain gorillas, the terrain in Budongo/Kaniyo-Pabidi is relatively flat. However, you will still be walking through dense forest vegetation off the main trails, so a basic level of fitness is recommended.
A: This safari is great year-round, but the dry seasons (December to February and June to September) offer the best wildlife viewing conditions. Roads are less muddy, and chimpanzees are easier to track as they don't hide from the rain.
