Travel Itinerary
Day 1 - Entebbe/Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Our driver-guide will pick you up early (around 7:00 AM) to begin the 8 to 9-hour drive to southwestern Uganda. Stop at the Kayabwe Equator monument for photos and stretch your legs, follow with a lunch break at the Igongo Cultural Center in Mbarara, and arrive at your mountain forest lodge by evening.
Day 2 - First Gorilla Trek & Batwa Cultural Experience
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a safety briefing and gorilla family allocation. Trek into the dense jungle with rangers to spend your first magical hour with a gorilla family. In the late afternoon, visit the local Batwa Pygmy community to experience traditional music, dance, and historical storytelling.
Day 3 - Second Gorilla Trek (Different Family Group)
Return to the park headquarters for your second trek. Your guide will specifically request a completely different tracking sector or gorilla group to ensure a totally unique environment. Use this second hour to focus on group interactions, silverback behavior, and capturing the moments you might have missed on day one.
Day 4 - Return Journey to Entebbe/Kampala
Check out of your lodge after breakfast and begin the return drive across the rolling Kigezi hills. Stop for a hot lunch in Mbarara city and make a final brief stop at the Equator for last-minute souvenir shopping before arriving back in Entebbe/Kampala for your evening flight out.

A: Yes, absolutely. If you want to avoid the long drive on Day 1 and Day 4, we can modify this into a fly-in safari. You would take a 1-hour scheduled domestic flight from Entebbe Airport to Kisoro Airstrip (for the southern sectors) or Kihihi Airstrip (for the northern sectors), where your guide will meet you. This option saves time but increases the overall tour cost.
A: Not at all. Every gorilla family has its own distinct group size, number of silverbacks, and playful infants, meaning their family dynamics are completely different. Furthermore, the terrain changes dramatically based on where the gorillas nested the previous night—one day you might hike through relatively open bamboo slopes, and the next you could be navigating deep, tangled valleys.
A: To protect the mountain gorillas from human illnesses (as they share roughly 98% of our DNA), you will not be permitted to trek if you show signs of a contagious illness like a cold or flu. If you clear the health check but find yourself too physically exhausted from Day 2 to complete the second hike, rangers can strategically assign you a gorilla family that is known to be nested closer to the park boundaries to minimize your walking distance.
