Alternatively, enjoy a scenic speedboat or ferry transfer directly from Entebbe's Nakiwogo landing site over to the swamp’s point of entry.
07:30 AM — 11:30 AM - The Shoebill Stork Search & Papyrus Birding
Board a specialized local motorized canoe to venture deep into the labyrinth of papyrus marshes. Because the swamp is an immense ecosystem, local fishermen monitor the locations of individual birds at dawn and communicate directly with your boat captain to pinpoint exactly where they are hunting.
The early morning hours (between 07:00 AM and 10:00 AM) are prime hunting times for the Shoebill. During this window, the temperature is cool, and the storks stand perfectly still in the shallow marshes to stalk lungfish. As the day heats up, the birds often retreat into dense, inaccessible areas of the swamp or take flight to ride thermal air currents high in the sky, making them much harder to spot.
