Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Entebbe
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, beautifully situated on the shores of Lake Victoria. Your private driver-guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel to relax and brief you on the upcoming adventure.
Day 2 - Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to Murchison Falls
Depart early toward Murchison Falls National Park. Stop en route at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track wild white rhinos on foot. After lunch, continue into Uganda's largest national park and drive to the breathtaking top of Murchison Falls.
Day 3 - Savannah Game Drive & Nile Boat Cruise
Embark on an early morning game drive across the northern delta to spot lions, leopards, Rothschild giraffes, and vast herds of elephants. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise up the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the explosive waterfalls.
Day 4 - Scenic Drive to Kibale Forest
Enjoy a scenic full-day drive south through rural villages, bustling market towns, and rolling green tea plantations, eventually arriving at the edge of the dense Kibale tropical rainforest.
Day 5 - Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Swamp Walk
Head into Kibale Forest—the primate capital of East Africa—to spend an unforgettable hour tracking and observing habituated wild chimpanzees. In the afternoon, explore the community-run Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary to view rare birds and monkeys.
Day 6 - Queen Elizabeth National Park & Kazinga Channel
Drive south to Queen Elizabeth National Park, crossing the equator along the way. In the afternoon, enjoy a 2-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, home to massive pods of hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife.
Day 7 - Tree-Climbing Lions to Bwindi Forest
Drive through the park's southern Ishasha Sector, scanning the branches of large fig trees for legendary tree-climbing lions. Continue onward as the flat savannah transitions into the steep, misty ridges of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Day 8 - The Gorilla Trekking Experience
The big day! After an early morning briefing, trek into the deep rainforest with expert trackers. Once you locate a family of wild mountain gorillas, you will spend one magical hour watching them interact, feed, and play in their natural habitat.
Day 9 - Lake Bunyonyi Relaxation
Drive to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the deepest and most beautiful crater lakes in Africa. Spend the day unwinding, taking a tranquil dugout canoe ride around its historic islands, or swimming in its Bilharzia-free waters.
Day 10 - Return drive to Entebbe airport or Kampala
Begin your journey back to Entebbe. Stop at the Equator monument for lunch and souvenir shopping, before arriving at the airport in the evening for your departure flight home.

A: It varies completely by day. Bwindi features steep, muddy terrain with no paved paths. You could find your assigned gorilla family in 45 minutes, or it might take a grueling 4 to 6 hours of hiking. A reasonable level of physical fitness is required, but you can also hire a local porter at the park gate to carry your backpack and assist you on slopes.
A: The best times to visit are during Uganda's dry seasons: June to August and December to February. During these months, the forest trails are less muddy for tracking primates, and savannah wildlife congregates around water sources, making game drives highly rewarding.
A: Sturdy, broken-in waterproof hiking boots are essential. You should also pack long-sleeved shirts, long trousers (tuck them into your socks to keep out safari ants), a lightweight rain jacket, a wide-brimmed hat, insect repellent containing DEET, and thick garden gloves to protect your hands from stinging nettles when grabbing branches.
