7 Days Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1 - Entebbe/Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park
Our driver-guide will pick you up early to begin the scenic drive west toward Fort Portal. Wind through rolling green tea plantations and rural villages. Arrive in the afternoon and check into your lodge near Kibale Forest.

Activity: Evening guided nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary to spot rare birds (like the Great Blue Turaco) and various monkey species.
Day 2 - Chimpanzee Tracking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Head to the park headquarters for a briefing before venturing into the tropical rainforest. Follow your ranger guide to track a habituated troop of wild chimpanzees, spending an unforgettable hour watching them play, groom, and communicate.

Day 3 - Savannah Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Set out at dawn into the Kasenyi plains for a morning game drive. Keep your camera ready for lions, leopards, massive herds of elephants, cape buffaloes, and Uganda kobs.

Activity: In the afternoon, take a 2-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural oasis boasting one of Africa's densest concentrations of hippos.
Day 4 - Tree-Climbing Lions (Ishasha Sector) to Bwindi Forest
Check out after breakfast and drive through the southern Ishasha sector of the park. This region is globally famous for its unique tree-climbing lions that love resting high up in fig trees.

Day 5 - The Ultimate Primate Experience – Gorilla Trekking
The day you've been waiting for. Fuel up with an early breakfast and head to the park station with your packed lunch. Armed rangers will guide you through the thick jungle undergrowth. Trekking can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on where the primates slept.

Day 6 - Batwa Cultural Experience & Relaxation
After the physical exertion of the previous day, enjoy a slower-paced morning.

Activity: Embark on a guided cultural walk to meet the Batwa Pygmies, the original indigenous hunter-gatherers of Bwindi Forest. Learn about their traditional hunting techniques, medicinal forest plants, and vibrant cultural dances. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge taking in the breathtaking mountain views.
Day 7 - Return to Entebbe / Departure
After breakfast, begin your journey back to central Uganda. Enjoy a celebratory lunch en route and make a final stop at the Uganda Equator for souvenirs and classic photos. Arrive in Kampala or Entebbe airport late in the afternoon for your departure flight.

Frequently Asked Questions
It can be quite demanding. Bwindi features steep, slippery hills, dense vegetation, and high altitudes. The trek requires a moderate level of physical fitness. However, the park rangers are excellent at matching trekking groups to your fitness level, and local porters can be hired to carry your daypack and pull/push you up tricky trails.
Uganda is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit is during the dry seasons: June to September and December to February. During these months, trails are less muddy for trekking, and wildlife gathers predictably around water sources in the savannah, making game viewing much easier.
You should pack sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with good grip, long-sleeved shirts, and long trousers to protect against stinging nettles and insects. Tough gardening gloves (for gripping vegetation), a waterproof rain jacket, a wide-brimmed hat, insect repellent, and a lightweight daypack for your lunch and water are also essential.
While they are wild animals, the success rate for seeing habituated gorillas and chimpanzees in Uganda is above 95%. Early morning tracker teams head into the forest before you set out to locate where the families spent the night, radioing their coordinates back to your guide.
Yes, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is a mandatory requirement for entering Uganda and will be checked at the airport. It is also highly recommended to take malaria prophylactics, as the safari passes through malaria-prone regions. Consult your doctor or travel clinic a few weeks before your departure.
