The Best time to trek chimpanzees in Uganda

The best time to trek the chimpanzees can any time you come to Uganda and whoever traveler that would like to take part in the chimpanzee trekking experience is required to book the chimpanzee permit at least 4-6 months prior to the dates of travel. This is due to the fact that during the dry season, there is a high demand for chimpanzee permits thus they get sold out so fast. Though you can trek chimpanzees any time of the year, we recommend the dry season as the best time to trek chimpanzees in Uganda, in this period the roads and tracking trails are dry thus easy to navigate through, also hiking during during the chimpanzee trekking exercise is easy compared to the rainy season when Roads are slippery, wet and muddy thus making chimpanzee safaris difficult. Remember to hire a 4×4 safari vehicle with ability to manage all road conditions including the remote areas.

The dry season is experienced in the months of December, January, full end of February( short dry season) and June, July, August, September and early October. It is also a high season when many tourist are flocking in the country for Uganda Safaris thus permits tend to get sold out so quickly.
